In New Storm Sequence Shaun Gladwell shows us a skateboarder in slow motion, as he spins his pirouettes on wet ground at the edge of a stormy sea. This skateboarder has the elegance of a ballet dancer. Sunk into himself and his concentration, he opposes the power of natural forces with the beauty of movement and mastery over his board. It is not clear whether he is trying to defy them or is attracted by them. All that is certain is that even the most perfect human image stands on unsteady legs in the face of natural forces. In spite of that, it may bring us comfort. |
